Rowanmoor Pensions is the UK’s largest independent provider of small self-administered schemes (SSAS) and has been at the forefront of the member-directed pensions industry since the first scheme of this type, the SSAS, was established in 1979.
Under the leadership of Ian Hammond since 1986, Rowanmoor Pensions has won many industry awards for the quality of its bespoke pension scheme administration.
Originally the SSAS and associated consultancy business of James Hay, Rowanmoor Pensions was formed by a management buyout of that business in September 2006. The company’s workforce has increased from 172 staff when the management buyout took place, to over 230 staff today.
The company has a strong heritage and a reputation for quality service and innovation. The company is firmly established as the leading independent provider of SSAS administration services in the UK.
Over the years, due to our high levels of client service, technical knowledge and experience, we have administered the SSAS portfolios of some of the UK’s major life offices, from our administration centres in Salisbury and Bolton.
In 2006, shortly after the completion of the management buyout, Rowanmoor Pensions launched the first Family SIPP; the Rowanmoor Pensions Family Pension Trust. This was the first new type of pension arrangement launched in the UK after the legislation governing pensions changed in April 2006.
On 5 May 2009, following the lifting of a restriction imposed at the time of the management buyout, which limited Rowanmoor Pensions from activity in the individual SIPP market, Rowanmoor Pensions launched its bespoke self-invested personal pension (SIPP).
The unique online SIPPView service for SIPP clients and their financial advisers, which gives instant access to information such as SIPP investments, bank transactions and benefit information, was launched in January 2010.
